Fashion Illustration

Here I am today for showing you some works of a great fashion illustrator of OUR TIME...
I always had a great fascination for drawing in particular for fashion illustration. As fashion designer I'm learning more and more to recognize value to this kind of artistic representation and now I was led to meet some great artists and their works.
So among all the possible names of amazing artists I decided to write about a young female illustator of the presente days... Laura Laine.

She is from Helsinki and she studied fashion design at University of Art an Design Helsinki. Her passion is illustration so after she completing her studies she decided to work as a full-time freelance illustrator and also teaching fashion at the university.
All her works are absolutly stunning. The characters are very stylized, twisted and with long and flowing hairs, with different textures on the clothes (fur, silk, leather, etc.) and she use the minimal color palette.
For me it's a very beautiful and delicate work with a pinch of darkness and eccentric taste. Her illustrations are like a dive into a mystic and sinister atmosphere of feminine forms.

You can see all this and much more at http://www.lauralaine.net/
See you soon.

Store Window Display 2012

Because I believe that a good window display it's one of the best ways to advertise a product I bring you a great example.
Sometimes the window display can be so powerful and embracing that a brand almost can "forget" other types of advertising, but about that we talk another time.
Today I decided to show you a great work of StudioXag, a retail design and prop making studio that creates amasing solutions for windows displays for fashion brands/stores. In fact, StudioXag has done a tribute to legendary shoe designer Christian Louboutin in his 20th anniversary.

The British department store Selfridge is exhibiting at Oxford Street, London megashop, five themed windows dedicates to Louboutin. Each one is filled with 2D graphics of photos. Some hang and spin, attached to differents mechanisms moving at different speeds.
One window pays tribute to the men´s collection, showing strong guys with tattons.

Onother display shows a tribute to women's collection.

As Xavier Sheriff, StudioXag designer, said: "Exploring Symmetry, changing scale, repetion and kaleidoscopic motion, each window focuses on a different form of movement. With specially engineered mechanical elements powering the moving graphics, it also showcases key product detailing"
Just check the video to see how it works:

The windows can be seen until  next April 1st. It's a really great work :)

Inditex's New Concept

The Inditex Group has just opened a new store in New York, in the Tishman Building (5th Avenue). This giant is developing a new concept of store opening the retailer's largest store ever with more then 3.000 square metres spread over 3 floors and 450 employees.

Each space was studied in detail for selling the best experiences to the costumer. The sustainability wasn't forgotten making an eco-efficient store.

The store joins all the brands of the Inditex Group, like Zara, Massimu Dutti, Uterque, Pull & Bear, etc.
It's a huge investment to fight the adversities of current market. An innovative ideia that puts together fashion, costumers and the environment. We will see if that works.
